DESCRIPTION:Open Studio | Open Studio took place at Kuzguncuk Pier on Wednesday\, 22 June\, from 14.00 to 18.00\, with the participation of architect Han Tümertekin.\r\n\r\nOpen Studio brought together participants who wanted to discuss their current projects and exchange ideas under the guidance of an expert practitioner. Students and young professionals from different fields of design met in a shared environment where they could work on their projects and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nApplications were submitted by sending a letter of intent of no more than 250 words to [etkinlik@turkiyetasarimvakfi.org](mailto:etkinlik@turkiyetasarimvakfi.org). Participation was limited to 7 people\, and the application deadline was Saturday\, 18 June\, at 17.00.\r\n\r\nHan Tümertekin continues his architectural practice through Mimarlar and Han Tümertekin Project Consultancy Services Ltd.\, which he founded in Istanbul in 1986. After completing his architectural education at Istanbul Technical University\, he developed projects primarily in Türkiye\, as well as in the Netherlands\, Japan\, Canada\, the United Kingdom and France. He conducted research on historic preservation at Istanbul University and has contributed to architectural education alongside his professional practice since 1992. He is among the founders and directors of the Architectural Design master’s programme at Istanbul Bilgi University. He serves as a visiting faculty member at Harvard Graduate School of Design\, École Spéciale d’Architecture Paris and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.\r\n\r\nTümertekin has served on numerous national and international juries and contributes to international architectural events through lectures and workshops. His work has been featured in publications including Domus\, Abitare\, Arquitectura Viva\, d’Architecture\, World Atlas of Contemporary Architecture and Atlas of 21st Century World Architecture. A selection of his projects was also published as a monograph by Harvard University Press. Tümertekin received Türkiye’s National Architecture Award in 1998 and 2000 and has received various other national and international awards. SM House was exhibited as part of the Mies van der Rohe Awards\, while B2 House received the 2004 Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Tümertekin also served on the jury for the 2007 Aga Khan Award for Architecture and has been a member of its Steering Committee since 2008.
