DESCRIPTION:18.45 Talks | Art and Truth: Does Hardship Break the Game? • The talk featured painter\, writer and academic Oğuz Haşlakoğlu and explored the relationship between art and truth through concepts including making and being\, imagination\, representation and dreams. The discussion considered how art\, as a form of imagination\, relates to truth\, whether it must establish such a relationship\, and whether art represents reality or constitutes a way of thinking about reality itself. Art and Truth: Does Force Break the Game? took place at İskele on Thursday\, 12 May\, at 18.45.\r\n\r\nOğuz Haşlakoğlu graduated from TED Ankara College in 1983. He studied in the Department of Philosophy at Boğaziçi University between 1983 and 1986. From 1986 to 1993\, he completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Painting at Mimar Sinan University and received his master’s degree in 1993. In 1999\, he graduated from the Philosophy master’s programme at Boğaziçi University with a thesis titled Technê in Plato’s Thought.\r\n\r\nBetween 1995 and 1999\, he taught theoretical and practical courses for three years at Istanbul Technical University and for one year at Kocaeli University. In 2003\, he received his Proficiency in Art degree in painting from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. He worked in the advertising industry for 15 years as a graphic designer\, art director and creative director at national and international agencies.\r\n\r\nFrom 2004 onwards\, he spent six years at Akdeniz University\, initially as a lecturer and later as a faculty member\, and served as Head of the Department of Painting for one year. He held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Türkiye and abroad\, participated in collective exhibitions\, and delivered lectures and seminars. His articles\, primarily focusing on his main theoretical fields of art philosophy and aesthetics\, were published in various peer-reviewed international and arts and culture journals.\r\n\r\nHaşlakoğlu wrote and edited artists’ books and catalogues and published art criticism. He also served as project director and faculty coordinator of Artesnet\, a European Union-supported project focusing on quality management and accreditation in higher education for art and design\, which received Akdeniz University’s Scientific Project Recognition Award.
